Resume Action Verbs and Accomplishment Bullet Examples

Find clear verbs and bullet-writing structures that describe your real work more precisely.

A strong resume bullet explains an action and its value. Better verbs help, but the details of what you did matter more than choosing the fanciest word.

Use verbs that match your role

For coordination, consider organized, scheduled, aligned, tracked, arranged. For analysis, consider analyzed, compared, assessed, tested, evaluated. For customer work, consider resolved, supported, advised, guided, answered. For creative projects, consider designed, edited, produced, drafted, developed.

Try the action + context + outcome structure

Begin with a verb, explain the task and add context or a result if you can verify it.

Before: Responsible for customer emails.
After: Responded to customer inquiries across email channels and documented recurring questions for the support team.
Before: Did reports.
After: Consolidated monthly operations reports and reviewed data for missing or inconsistent entries.
Before: Helped social media.
After: Scheduled weekly social media posts and coordinated asset approvals with the design team.

Do not invent numbers

Percentages can help when you know exactly what was measured. But “Improved response time by 37%” is misleading if it is a guess. Strong qualitative evidence is better than fabricated precision. You can describe frequency, scale and collaborators without inventing outcomes: “Prepared weekly reports for five departments” is specific and useful when true.

Avoid repetitive verbs

Starting every bullet with “managed” makes experience harder to scan. Vary terms only when they accurately describe the action. You may have coordinated one task and analyzed another, which tells the reader more than repeating a generic verb.

Make each bullet relevant

Choose accomplishments that connect to the target job. A retail employee applying for an operations role might emphasize inventory accuracy, team scheduling or process improvements rather than listing every daily transaction. Do not omit important qualifications or responsibilities solely to keep bullets short.

A quick editing checklist

Use the bullet point helper to draft options based only on details you provide.
